Improving Services FAST Campaign New Zealand is lucky to have a range of dedicated medical professionals committed to improving stroke services nationally. The Stroke Foundation – with the dedicated support of our honorary medical experts – continues to work for improved services through publishing relevant research findings, the creation of national medical guidelines and a biennial Stroke Conference.

Current work:
The Stroke Foundation is currently coordinating an audit of stroke services in each of the 21 DHBs nationwide. We will have a report of how their service compares to international best practice and the national average. We will be reporting back to DHBs before the end of 2009.

In the coming year we expect to update the NZ acute and rehabilitation guidelines for stroke in collaboration with the Australian Stroke Foundation.

We will also begin planning the next NZ Stroke Conference for late in 2010.
