Jup delivers $20,000 to Stroke Foundation, 15 December 2011
The running plumber Jup Brown delivered a massive cheque for $20, 295 to the Stroke Foundation in Wellington yesterday. The funds were raised by his epic 2,900km run the length of New Zealand completed in 67 days.
Jup finished his run in Auckland on 6 November but donations continued to flow in following his second appearance on TVNZ’s Close Up. Jup’s story will feature for a third time on the final Close Up of 2011 having been voted one of the programme’s stories of the year.
Stroke Foundation CEO Mark Vivian thanked Jup for his amazing effort on receiving the cheque: “Everyone is just amazed at Jup’s magnificent achievement. This donation will be a great boost to stroke survivors. We can’t thank Jup enough and we wish him well on all his future adventures.”
