Ashely's story
In March 2023, I was 31 years old and seeking relief from chronic neck and back pain by going to a chiropractor on a fortnightly basis. One adjustment went wrong and I suffered a vertebral artery dissection, resulting in a stroke in my cerebellum.
Luckily, the chiropractor acted fast and called an ambulance, where I was taken straight to A & E and put on life-saving clot busting medication. Two and a half years later, I'm almost 100% recovered, except I have to manage fatigue and noise sensitivity.
I'm a clear case of how immediate and fast action saves lives, and can now live a relatively normal life.
Strokes are not just for the elderly, so knowing what to do at any age is key.
