Sandy's story

Sandy (WAKS montage)

On 7th July 2007, my 70-year-old Mum suffered a frontal lobe stroke. This not only changed my Mum's world but that of my own and my family's for the next 11.5 years.

I now wished we had understood more about the effects of stroke as we do now and what was available to myself and our family to assist with my mum's recovery post stroke through the awesome work of Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand.

Support available after stroke

You don't have to go through stroke recovery alone. Stroke Aotearoa is here for you, providing the support and services you and your whānau need after you have been discharged from hospital.
