Stacey's story
On June 17th, 2024, as I stepped off the treadmill at the gym and headed to the restroom, I suddenly lost feeling in my right arm, sending me into a panic. My attempt to call for help resulted in slurred speech, but I managed to unlock the door with my other arm.
A woman in the shower heard my distress and came to check on me, and I urgently asked her to call an ambulance. The next thing I remember is collapsing on the floor, with the gym staff working to revive me until the paramedics arrived.
My thoughts were consumed by my children and husband, and I prayed for strength and clarity. After undergoing numerous tests, I discovered I had a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a condition I was previously unaware of.
This harrowing experience became a catalyst for change. I committed to a healthier lifestyle and even entered a bodybuilding competition, using my journey to inspire others facing physical challenges. I won my category in the Body Quest competition, but my journey didn’t end there.
Today, I work as a foot care therapist, driven by the profound lesson that the true meaning of life lies in helping others.
